Introducing Our Pets

Googa - Corinda Googa
Googa
the Galah came to us in 1995 at around 5 years of age, making him somewhere around 18/19 years old. Being a Galah he loves to chew and destroy things, so his daytime play cage is always decked out with lots of wood and rope toys to keep his mind active, one of his favorite chew toys are the ‘cactus wood and cuttlebone trees’.

Rusty
is a Basenji cross Jack Russell who came to us from the pound in February 2006 at about 2 years of age. Rusty is always there to greet you at the door with one of his plush toys to show you, he doesn’t want you to take it he just wants to show you and tell you about his day (Basenji’s are very vocal). In April 2007 Rusty was involved in a nasty car accident and, amongst other injuries, unfortunately lost his right front leg, but this has not slowed him down at all, he still runs at full speed up and down the stairs and through the doggy door.

Fluffy
is a moggy born in April 2004, weighing in at a healthy 6kg. The Girls just love him and he waits at the door to greet them everyday when they return home from school. Like many cats fluffy can often be found relaxing in a nice warm spot

If you noticed a resemblance to the animals on the sign at Pet Cafe Corinda, that’s because it is Misty, Rusty and Googa along with David’s Sisters cat Fluffy.

Ludo is a Gold Cocker Spaniel belonging to Jen, he loves nothing more than cuddles, food, playing ball and sleeping in that order. Ludo seemed to inherit his father’s hyperactivity, but seems to have mellowed out over the years.

Brighid is a Black Cocker Spaniel, and Ludo’s Sister. If she isn’t curled up on the couch next to Jen, then she can be found outside playing ball or just running around sniffing all the interesting scents in the backyard. Every now and then Brighid and her brother can be found getting up to mischief, especially if in involves getting in to the duck pond.

Edison is a new edition to the menagerie at Jen’s house (a.k.a Jen’s Zoo), a grey/blue short hair domestic cat. Edison enjoys jumping stalking all the other animals around the place especially if it results in a game of chase. He did learn early however that chickens, are not deserving of their timid reputation and will happily let little grey cats know who rules the backyard.

Quin is a small grey cockatiel that was found lost and wet in Jen’s backyard early in the year. Quin couldn’t be happier in her new home, with a big cage full of great toys found at Pet Cafe, she also has guaranteed out of the cage time everyday (hopefully when Edison is asleep). Quin also enjoys learning new things to whistle and is currently working on the theme from the TV show Bewitched.

Chickens and Ducks, currently residing at Jen’s Zoo is 4 chicken and 2 rare breed welsh harlequin ducks. All the poultry have the pleasure of free ranging around the backyard all day, hiding under arrowroot and wattle trees if anything suspicious is seen in the sky. Mostly they enjoy the freedom to hunt for bugs and grubs.

Misty - Corinda Misty Misty the Cattle Dog cross Border Collie came to us from the RSPCA as an 8 week old bundle of energy in September 2005, after 2 wonderful years with us she unfortunately contracted a rare fungal disease which attacked the brain and central nervous system, she lost her fight in May 2008. She is sadly missed, as she loved life and lived it to the full.
