Wing clipping birds

David Stone - Monday, August 12, 2013

Wing clipping is a controversial topic amongst pet bird owners, mostly parrot owners where the process of trimming a bird's primary flight feathers is carried out to prevent it from being able to fully fly. It's important to understand if you undertake wing clipping that it is done correctly.  Major dramas can arise from incorrect clipping causing the bird distress and injuries to your pet bird should it attempt flight.

Wing clipping is normally carried out by vets, bird breeders or your local pet shop may offer this service.
